Counseling Services

Counseling is available at no additional cost to students who are currently enrolled at NIT

During a time of need, talking to someone who is objective can be extremely helpful. NIT’s counseling services are safe, nonjudgmental and private.

During your first visit, a state-trained & registered mental health professional will listen to your concerns and help you explore your options. Our goal is to help you achieve and maintain personal well-being so that you can continue to focus on your academic journey.

Referrals

The Wellness Center keeps a list of referrals for people who are not eligible for counseling services at the Wellness Center (such as alumni or employees), or for eligible students who would either prefer to engage services off-campus or would be best served by a more comprehensive service that isn’t provided for at the university. Contact us for referrals specific to your needs & to be assisted until you connect with the service you need. Or, you may look at the following mental health directories Psychology Today (insurance & cash-pay providers) and Open Path Collective (reduced cash-pay providers, $30-$60). Both directories give you a detailed profile for each provider with the ability to search by filters such as distance from your location, what insurance they accept, what languages they speak, what populations they treat, what problems they treat, type of therapy, and identifiers about the provider such as gender.
